Thought To Ponder?
Do I really know who buys my art?
Tip of the Month
Your Patrons are your friends - make friends.
Exercise
1) Start by asking your current Patrons why did they buy your art? Ask what they like about it?
2) Let your Patrons talk about themselves, what they do, like, own, and value.
3) Ask a few of your friends to brainstorm what they believe the activities, interest, ownership (things owned) and values of your potential Patrons may be.
4) Look for similarities of activities, interest, ownership and values among your Patrons. Do they define themselves in some way, or can you group them in a given community? (e.g. environmentalist, Yoga enthusiast, Toyota Prius owner, etc.)
Lesson Learned
Ask questions, listen and be curious about your Patrons. Then you know whom they are and where to find them.
